Approximately half of the shrimp produced globally are from shrimp farms or aquaculture. Farm production is more feasible in coastal areas, which is where we are located. High quality, traceable shrimp from certified farms improves financial certainty for farmers as well as raw material supply viability and sustainability for us.
FALCON MARINE has built a network of contract and corporate farms which translate into a steady supply of high quality fresh shrimps for processing and marketing. This is important to meet the demands of a growing processed seafood market, in terms of quality as well as timely deliveries.
FALCON MARINE also has its own shrimp ponds, under our direct supervision, management, and ownership. This produces high levels of efficiency and productivity. The use of technology, streamlined processes, and economies of scale leads to higher yields, reduced costs and better profitability.
FALCON MARINE’s combination of contract and corporate farming gives control over the supply and quality of raw material, a primary requisite for the premium shrimp products we offer.
FALCON MARINE works in close proximity with a network of 10,000 contract farmers. This arrangement is particularly advantageous for our shrimp farmers since FALCON MARINE undertakes to purchase all shrimps grown, within specified quality and quantity parameters.
We provide shrimp farmers with the appropriate feed from our own state-of-the-art Feed Factory to ensure proper nutrition. They also get access to our range of managerial, technical and extension services. This association also ameliorates the risk of production failure due to poor weather and disease, among other factors.
Thousands of our contract farmers also get crop credit from us. This way of supporting them is bringing much needed change in the farming community.
Contract farming gives us better control over shrimp production to ensure quality and safety, while educating the farmers against the use of harmful chemicals and antibiotics.
One quite visible and desirable impact on contract farmers has been a significant rise in their incomes, leading to better quality of life for them and their families.
