FALCON MARINE produces its own nutritional pellet feed for the shrimp in its aquaculture ponds, as a strategy for controlling the quality of its shrimp and shrimp products.
There are two varieties of shrimp: Vannamei or Litopenaeus vanname and Monodon. We produce feed for both varieties and have an installed capacity of almost 100,000 tons per annum. At present we are producing almost 200 tons per day. The plant runs almost 350 days per annum.
The FALCON FEEDS state-of-the-art fully automatic plant is from Bühler, a renowned name in the feed industry, with highly efficient machines. Whatever the batching system or mixing, everything is automatic; there is no manual intervention.
The system is completely computer driven and no one can manipulate the output. Quality is the prime objective. So R&R, repeatability and reproducibility are both maintained here
During procurement, the target parameters are given to the supplier. Our lab technicians do physical analysis of the raw material at intake and the data goes into the system. Nothing is accepted unless it is within the targeted limits. Only the quality head is authorized to change it with a note so that it goes to all the higher ups.
The feed industry is in a sense a food industry. The hygiene standards are different, because ultimately humans are consuming the end products. We are producing material which is consumed by shrimps, which are consumed by people. So the hygiene level has to be absolutely world class.
Our methodologies and processes are based on best practices in the industry. There is no room for contamination and all our products are BAP certified and HALAL certified.
BAP refers to Best Aquaculture Practices and HALAL certification guarantees that the product has been made according to Muslim requirements.
The FALCON FEED plant is ISO 9001:2015 certified, the International Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS). It is also ISO 22000:2018 certified for food safety management systems.
The plant is covered by HACCP certification or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, a globally recognized food safety management system that identifies and controls potential hazards during food production, including biological, chemical, and physical risks. This ensures that food products are compliant with regulatory standards and safe for consumers.
We are certified by EIA, the Export Inspection Agency. With these certifications in place, you can be sure that there are no contaminants in our product.
The plant is registered with the Coastal Aquaculture Authority. We do not add antibiotics in any of our products, nor pesticides, herbicides, or heavy metals.
Our quality control activities include raw material quality, process optimization, and finished goods quality assurance.
We also adhere to the quality standards of government authorities such as FSSAI and FAO.
Our feed products are used in-house as well as marketed pan India. Our feed formulation is finely calibrated for the nutritional needs of Monodon and Vanname species. The optimization of process parameters means that each pelleted feed contributes to the best growth of every shrimp.
The formulations have been evolved and designed in-house as per the species requirement and climatic conditions, the outcome of a strong R&D process.
The FALCON FEED plant is manned by people from engineering, aquaculture and chemistry specializations, as well as oceanography and marine biology specialists. We take care of our people.
The biggest challenge in this industry is smell, but even while our plant is running, there is no smell. We have invested a lot of money in the infrastructure, to making it pollution free. There is zero discharge of polluted air or polluted water. Whatever we do, we do it in the best way we can.
There was a time when the local people said we can't stay here because of pollution concerns. So, we have invested crores of rupees in a wet scrubber, biofilter, and a dry fog system, and keep them upgraded.
Now the people are not troubled by the smell at all, no pollution. They have accepted our presence and operations. That is how FALCON is taking care of the locality and the people.
There are two villages nearby from where about 300 local people are employed, which is almost 80-90% of our manpower.
As we look at the next 20 years, FALCON FEEDS is poised to be a leader in the animal nutrition sector.
We produce two types of shrimp feeds in our state-of-the-art feed plant, for L. vannamei and P. Monodon. Carefully formulated and nutritionally balanced, our feed products are guaranteed to produce farm raised shrimp harvests of premium quality.
